knitting on the beach spring break 09

managed to knit and needlepoint on the beach in florida this year- note flamingo on bag. black yarn is a mink ( brushed from animals not pelts) and cashmere blend which is amazing. it turned into this hat.

Also did cute child’s sweater using the german self-striping yarn( schoeller &stahl). the pattern looks vaguely missoni-ish with a slight chevron. very easy and inexpensive to make. Also, saw sharks in the water (right after I’d gotten out..), ate too much and shopped too much, love Florida….

creative crafts and stitch show somerset

annabel at somerset

here’s annabel in our stand at the creative crafts show in somerset-she’s sporting a new Blue Heron cardi-knitted in the cotten Texture yarn and trimmed in Beaded Metallic. I was pleased with the results of the show-especially considering this was our first venture into the realm of knitting shows and this particular one seemed heavily weighted towards card and scrap bookers. best sellers were the soft spun alpaca/merino, sock yarns and Rio de la plata yarns. The Blue Heron yarns were a big draw into the stand-

We met lots of lovely knitters and made some new client friends so hopefully will return to this area.

I LOVED SOMERSET- the area was just stunning and reminded me of New England (southern vermont esp.)For the 5 days we rented a lovely cottage and could look out at the adorable sheepies from the patio. this was our view

I was dismayed by the lack of interest in the needlepoint canvases- where are all the fine tapestry lovers?

knitting, fast food and shopping in florida

               brown-bag.jpg

in case you think I have been doing nothing but sitting on the beach- I have actually done quite a bit of knitting- new bag 1st sample, new blue heron cardigan (more later),moose dog collar almost needlepointed. However, I have actually done alot more SHOPPING! God, it is amazing…..

most ridiculous American fast food I’ve seen so far- frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from Costco.but before you pronounce this the absolute epitome of laziness, consider that the crusts are off, the edges are crimped so the stuff doesn’t drip out and they do defrost quite nicely on the beach…. Actually, I am quite fond of fast food and have discovered Checkers which does sublime french fries( excuse me, chips) for about 50 cents. have not made it to Krispy Kreme yet….

needlepoint-lost and found

dog-mittensstockings.jpgA  package of 11 canvases showed up on the kitchen table the other day that I ordered back in late November.I had put these down to lost and as I’m bitching about royal mail yet again- I find out my husband had them in his stuff all the time and hadn’t managed to notice the priority mail envelope was not for him…. even more disorganized than me, pathetic. So for those who wanted to do these last xmas- how about this one?

2 other really nice doggy canvases turned up today.dalmation-and-shepard.jpg

while we’re on the subject of nice doggies look at this outstanding picture of the debonnaire cavalier

moose-he gets anything he wants!

now you know a secret about me

so every morning after my nice husband brings me coffee I turn on the computer and the next thing I know its 11-am not  pm (thou’ somtimes it feels like it is) a year ago I got in the habit of staying in the bedroom to work as the construction noise from downstairs was so bad – so some days I am still in my pj’s!! gasp-

so is the computer a major time suck??//-what am i @working@on? here’s the list-ravelry pattern additions, photo resizing, flickr uploads, trying to figure out this blog stuff(too much time reading lorelle and forums on technical advice, google site stuff( a good couple of hours with no result), also need to source new needlepoint cuz if I don’t do it this winter it won’t get done, researching blackberry stuff in an effort to increase my productivity(snort…) the list of time suckers goes on

other things I’ve been doing- teaching, trying to finish cardigan, knitting hearts(don’t ask ), working on moose- the debonnaire cavalier’s-dog collar which is a prototype for my new belt finisher to leather up,3 new designs sketching out

and I have a family somewhere…

the weather’s been so nice that I really want to play golf- but that will have to wait for florida…..

and guess what, it’s 11:30.
