Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all! We celebrated in style with a house party and amazing fireworks.

2015 was an amazing year for Debonnaire and I am looking forward to an even better 2016. While I don’t do resolutions- I am determined to especially work on 2 areas. First, we are going  to increase our social media exposure.

While I am already on Twitter(@ehdknits) and Instagram-debonnaireyarns, I have set up new boards on pinterest-check them out and hopefully you will follow if it interests. My favourite new board is Sheepspiration. The Facebook page (Debonnaire Distinctive Yarns) will open soon.

The second area I need to improve is my back strength- seriously necessary for the amount of stuff and dye pots I lug around. Pilates here I come.

My current favourite colour is pink -at least it was one day last week:

rose yarn

P-lush next

Amazing time last week at EdinYarnFest- what a great show! Added bonus of getting to spend more time in Edinburgh with Savannah and right before her birthday. She took some great pics:

Now, it’s off to P-lush this weekend at the Ricoh Arena

Needless to say have spent even more time dyeing up some new colours, including lots of sparklies which have been quite popular this winter:

And the Pantone Spring 2015 colour- Marsala or my version at least:

Ally Pally over, off to Glasgow School of Yarn

Fantastic but exhausting 5 days at Alexandra Palace ( not including 2 days set up). Thanks to all the lovely clients and my fabulous helper, Vanessa.

Next, off to Glasgow this weekend for Glasgow School of Yarn( really looking forward to this one), then a brief pitstop  in Edinburgh to grab Savannah and hijack her for her reading week, then a week  or seven of crazy dyeing to attempt to replenish supplies…

Last week’s dye pot- off to Exeter Creative Stitches

Lots of sock yarns, but also some lace, especially fat lace- 600-800m/100gm:

and a couple of sparkles:

New Patterns:

so off to Exeter Creative Stitches, then Alexandra Palace, then Glasgow for School of Yarn!

Wonderful Woolfest 2014

Was especially delighted to exhibit at Woolfest this year. The weather was just fantastic as was the show. Somewhat of a challenge setting up a long and skinny stall but it worked. Seemed like tons more sheep this year and they brought back the sheep auction.

Scott and I had a nice late breakfast before  leaving( selfie here).

But had to race back home to get back to Savannah and Theo who managed not to trash the house in our absence. Savannah I spent a bit of time at the Henley regatta and especially liked seeing a woman enjoying the sights  (sic)and sun while knitting under the bridge.

March- in like a lion……

March has been crazy- great shows at Glasgow and Olympia and now the pressure’s on to get Alex’s wedding organised as well as her  bar shower scheduled for  early May.
Both Glasgow and Olympia were my best shows ever at these venues. Unfortunately for next year, the organisers have scheduled these events for the same date. Hopefully they will get it sorted out so 1 changes date.

Savannah spent  some time with me in Glasgow on break from Uni in Edinburgh. I don’t think she’s knit for at least 3 years but even she was inspired. Grabbing a skein of chunky alpaca merino and with a brief  re-lesson on casting on with circular needles, she knit this great headband ( finished during the ride back to Edinburgh)

My  friend Liz from Heartfelt by Liz was there with her stunning felted wraps, brooches etc and these amazing corsages:

Somehow, I don’t think Alex will bite however unfortunately.

I spent some time talking to the lovely Yulia from Silkfelten Collection who is responsible for the fab mermaid and not the codpieces she was quick to say..

Finally thanks to my helper Vanessa who was just fantastic!

This weekend I’m at Create Henley on Saturday and Sunday in the Town Hall- Henley on Thames . Drop by if you’re in the area!

Unravel 2014 – a wonderful event

Unravel was busy as ever this year and a wonderful event. Saw many old clients and met some new . Many thanks to Vanessa  and a pop in helper, Sandy from Sweden ( a co expat American) for all their help.

I was delighted to see this peacock shawl knit with Lustre 4 ply  Silk in Teal  colour way  which is of course now sold out but will be redyed soon.IMG_20140222_103649
